Co-op@CUHK Field Trip to Seoul – School Visit at Sogang University

Students visited Sogang University for a seminar led by Dr. Inho Ko, former CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Korea, gaining insights on the development of gaming industry and console game market in the world.

“Dr. Ko noted that despite distinct markets, direct competition between PC and console isn’t always necessary due to each platform's disparate nature. That's why cross-platform migration isn't a major focus. Thanks to Dr. Ko’s sharing, we gained insights into Sony's role in the gaming industry. Sony's revenue extends beyond console distribution to include first-party games—titles developed internally by the platform manufacturer. The Spider-Man series stands as a prime example of Sony's successful first-party portfolio.”
(Ken CHAN, Year 2, Statistics)

Meanwhile, participating students had the chance to get connected and exchange thoughts with students from Sogang University, making the visit an enriching experience for them. It was an invaluable session for our students not only in providing new perspectives on the study, career as well as life in South Korea, but also in forging lasting relationship with their local counterparts.

Co-op@CUHK Field Trip to Seoul – Visit at Samsung Innovation Museum

Students visited Samsung Innovation Museum, a museum showcasing how Samsung becomes one of the giants in technology and its vision of bringing technology for the welfare of humankind.

“Exploring the Samsung Innovation Museum in Seoul was an eye-opening experience! From the very first moment, we were immersed in the fascinating journey of technology, from the past to the future. The museum’s journey through the evolution of technology highlighted the importance of innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving—core principles we focus on in our Co-op experiences. From early electronics to the latest in AI and sustainable tech, it was a reminder of how impactful cross-disciplinary collaboration can be in pushing boundaries and shaping the future. 🌍✨

Samsung’s journey shows how learning, hands-on experience, and a forward-thinking mindset fuel progress. We were inspired by the museum’s interactive exhibits, where technology and sustainability intersect—an invaluable lesson for us as CUHK students aiming to contribute to meaningful, future-focused solutions. 💡🌱

The museum reminded us that innovation is not just about creating technology, but about working together, thinking critically, and applying our knowledge to make a positive impact. This experience definitely reinforced the goals of the CUHK Co-op Programme —bridging academic learning with real-world application, and preparing us to be the changemakers of tomorrow! 🚀”
