The Job Matching Process

Through the following matching process, the Co-op Career Advisors will try to match you with a placement. This process recurs until you land a placement.

You are also encouraged to create opportunities by reaching out to targeted companies and arranging your own placements.

A) Job hunting via the Co-op Portal

1

Apply to job postings online

You explore the job postings made available by the Programme’s Co-op Partners, and select which you wish to apply to.

You are welcome to apply cross-disciplines (i.e. a placement unrelated to your field of study).

2

Employer interview

Shortlisted candidates in the first round will be commonly invited by employers to the next interview round, usually either virtually or in person.

There will be a holistic consideration of students’ suitability, based on factors such as CV, prior work experience, leadership activities, interview performance, etc.

3

Ranking by preference

Prior to interviews, you are required to rank the employers and job preference. Employers will rank the selected candidates accordingly after interviews and notify the Co-op Team to offer a position.

CEP will notify you of a successful matching via the Co-op Portal. You are required to accept the first offer that comes your way.

4

Job offer management

It is critical to manage the position in a professional and truthful manner.

All offers and acceptance must be reported to the Co-op Career Advisors for better liaison.

B) Finding your own placements

1

Before job application

Keep OCEP posted on the external job postings you select and wish to apply to. Please be reminded to seek OCEP’s advice on the suitability of target jobs as placements.

The Co-op Career Advisors will further approach the HR / Talent Acquisition Team and / or line managers on remuneration package, arrangement of supporting student supervision and facilitation of students’ performance evaluation.

2

Declaration of conflict of interest

You are required to make a declaration of conflict of interest on pecuniary or other personal interest, direct or indirect, in any matter that raises or may raise a conflict with your upcoming duties.

3

Employer interview
